Its 1949, and former military pilot Kōichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) has settled down with his wife Noriko (Minami Hamabe), and their adopted daughter Akiko (Sae Nagatani). Now, another monster threat looms over post-war Japan in the form of a dragon-like creature dubbed Ghidorah. The family re-teams with naval engineer Kenji Noda (Hidetaka Yoshioka), alongside keen meteorologist Makoto Aoyama (Masami Nagasawa) in a bid to stop this new kaiju.
