Case 137 (12A)

Case 137

A French Internal Affairs officer investigates police misconduct during the 2018 yellow vests protests, only to realise that what she’s also trying to uncover is whether her job makes any difference at all.

Stéphanie (Lea Drucker), a police officer working for Internal Affairs, is assigned to a case involving a young man wounded during a tense and chaotic demonstration in Paris. While she finds no evidence of illegitimate police violence, the case takes a personal turn when she discovers the innocent victim is from her hometown. Drucker gives a marvellous performance feeding the crucial emotional undercurrent while Dominik Moll’s direction allows the gripping story to breathe. It is a film which transcends its genre with a deeply personal lens to confront police corruption and political unrest with gripping precision. (Subtitles)
