Aaron Sorkin directs his original screenplay in this standalone sequel to the hit film ‘The Social Network’. Here, a Facebook engineer enlists the help of a reporter to blow the whistle on the social network's most guarded secrets.
Young Facebook engineer Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison - ‘Anora’), discovers a connection between algorithms on the social media platform and the rise of right-wing fringe groups in America. She brings her findings to Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), a Wall Street Journal reporter investigating the company, and the pair prepare to expose one of the most powerful platforms in the world. In a parallel storyline, Mark Zuckerberg (Jeremy Strong) prepares to face a US government investigation, as his creation begins to stoke the flames that would lead to the January 2021 Washington insurrection. Sorkin’s writing is as sharp as ever, passionately holding the tech giant to account for doing nothing while misinformation and extremism ran rampant on the social network.
