Heart of the Beast (PG)
After surviving a plane crash, a former special forces soldier finds himself trapped in the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness with his combat dog.
Former Army Special Forces soldier James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his retired combat dog Odin (real name Uber) are involved in a plane crash that leaves them 58 miles from the nearest road, where there is at least the possibility of finding civilization. The duo faces cold weather and danger every step of the way, but their unbreakable bond gives them a glimmer of hope. Director Ayer and Pitt have worked together before, on 2014’s tank-based WWII drama ‘Fury’, but this film hits very different notes. As with ‘Fury’, it is an emotionally powerful survival thriller, but at its core, this is a love letter to the perseverance, survival and the unwavering loyalty of man’s best friend. JK Simmons and Anna Lambe also star in supporting roles.
