A struggling primary school teacher begins to make some questionable decisions after one of her students is injured.
Based on Rasmus Lindgren’s novel De Oönskade (The Unwanted) beleaguered West Country primary school teacher Maria (Saiorse Ronan), reveals the desperate anger rippling under her facade of calm as she attempts to placate a violent and foul-mouthed pupil Danny, antagonising her and his classmates. She’s at once sympathetic and a little frightening, keeping the audience uncertain about just how far she will go.
Ronan delivers her usual power-house performance in this nerve-jangling drama.
