In this unbelievable true story, a young man relocates from Poland to France after WWII and becomes the legendary counterfeiter known as the "Cézanne of counterfeit money" for his meticulous artistic skill and prodigious output.
Unable to patent his inventions and feeling socially humiliated, engineer Jan Bojarski (Reda Kateb) descends into the dangerous underworld of counterfeiting, swiftly becoming the most skilled counterfeiter in the country. Working solo, he crafted flawless fake French Francs worth millions over 14 years, continually honing his craft as the French Mint updated their currency to combat their nemesis. What follows is a brilliant blend of genres: a precise documentary-style look at the artisanal, paper-and-press techniques of counterfeiting, a touching family drama exploring the toll of a perilous double life, and a tense cat-and-mouse manhunt led by Commissioner Mattei (Bastien Bouillon).
