In this grown-up comedy, we meet a couple whose marriage is struggling. When they invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbours for a dinner party, the night spirals into unexpected places.
Unhappy music professor Joe (Seth Rogan) and his naturally anxious wife Angela's (Olivia Wilde) marriage is on thin ice. They decide to invite their upstairs neighbours Pina (Penélope Cruz) and Hawk (Edward Norton) down for a meal. Total opposites, this upstairs couple is unmarried and happy and not shy of allowing their screams of desire to seep down through the floorboards. This dinner party could be the change that Joe and Angela need, but have they reignited the spark, or lit the match that burns it all down? The four leads are exceptional in this smart and funny winner about sex, marriage and partner-swapping. Wilde has graduated from a successful acting career to become an outstanding new director, this her third film after the impressive ‘Booksmart’ and ‘Don’t Worry Darling’.
