Roma Città Aperta

During the Nazi occupation of Rome in 1944 a Resistance leader is chased by the Nazis as he seeks refuge and a way to escape. Take advantage of this 4K remaster to see a true masterpiece on the big screen.

Giorgio Manfredi (Marcello Pagliero), one of the leaders of the Italian Resistance, is tracked down by the Nazis. He goes to his friend Francesco's (Francesco Grandjacquet) and asks Francesco's fiancé Pina (Anna Magnani) for help, who in turn enlists the aid of a courageous priest (the excellent Aldo Fabriz). The visceral cinematography blends the grit of a documentary with the heart and soul of a drama (Fellini collaborated with Rossellini on the screenplay) as the people of Rome wrestle with the constraints, compromises and collusions of life during wartime. Described by Martin Scorsese as "the most precious moment of film history". Do you need more reason to see this film? (Subtitles)
